The Story of Illuminating Black

Logo

A black light's purpose is to illuminate what is invisible to the naked eye. As we all know, identifying organizations, professionals, businesses, and events that seek to elevate, empower, and serve the Black community takes a lot of work. For this reason, Illuminating Black was created to empower organizations that seek to illuminate the Black community through service and resources.

Illuminating Black seeks to unify and empower by serving grassroots community organizations serving the Black community in Tarrant County as a root. The root anchors, stabilizes, and prevents erosion.

There is strength and influence in numbers. With so many great Black-owned businesses and organizations that seek to assist the Black community, providing needed support through strategic planning, project-based support, administrative support, and developing implementation strategies provides a way to ILLUMINATE all things
BLACK to increase awareness, access, and our voice to empower our community as a whole. This extends to organizations that provide resources and services to the community that predominantly serve the Black community by the nature of their work.

In addition to consultative services, through collaboration and communication, Illuminating Black will work to serve as a conduit for our community by providing programming and spaces that provide a centralized way to access information, resources, and opportunities.

Tarrant County is the 3rd most populous county in Texas, and the 15th most populous county in the nation. As of July 2022, Blacks make up 18.5% of the population. It is time for us to create a united front through the establishment of a consortium to achieve goals relevant to our success and empowerment!
